Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Combined Graduate Level (CGL), issued the latest notification for the vacancy in 2019 on 22 October 2019. SSC has released a notification for the various posts in the Grade 'B' and Grade 'C'.

Staff Selection Commission, often known as SSC. SSC conducts exams to recruit the candidate for the posts in ministerial, department and agencies of Government of India. In the year 1975, SSC was established.

The requirement of qualification for the posts under SSC CGL is the candidate should have Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University.

SSC conducts the exam in four Tier for Combined Graduate Level (CGL). In these Tiers, Tier I and Tier II are an online computer-based exam and in Tier III and IV, there is descriptive paper and a Computer Proficiency Test or Skill Test and Document Verification. SSC CGL Educational Qualification


In giving the SSC CGL Exam, a candidate should have a Graduation degree in any discipline from the recognized University or Institution. The Educational Qualifications may vary from posts to posts in SC CGL.

SSC CGL 2019 Salary


  • The salary for the SSC CGL 2019 is starting from Rs. 25500 to Rs. 1,51,100 according to the post the salary may vary.

Application fees for SSC CGL 2019


  • The Application fee for the candidate is Rs 100 for the General candidates and OBC candidates and for SC/ST/PH and female candidates, there is no provision of the fees for filling the form. 

Selection Process and Exam Pattern

SSC CGL conducts the exam in four Tiers for the various posts.

There are some points to remember before sitting in the SSC CGL 2019 Exam

  1. Tier I and Tier II will be Online Computer-based exam of SSC CGL
  2. Tier III exam of Descriptive paper will be of 100 marks and the time limit is 60 minutes in pen and paper mode
  3. There is no sectional cut-off and the Tier I exam will be of 60 minutes.

There is the minimum qualification for Tier I, II, and Tier III in the SSC CGL is mentioned below

  1. Un-reserved       30%
  2. OBC/EWS          25%
  3. Others                 20%

Exam Pattern of SSC CGL Tier I 2019 

The Tier I is an Online based objective exam of 100 Questions in four Sections. The marks for each question are 2 marks each, making it a total of 200 marks.

There will be four sections and each section will have 25 questions each with 50 is maximum marks.
The four sections of SSC CGL 2019 are


  1. General Intelligence and Reasoning
  2. General Awareness
  3. Quantitative Aptitude
  4. English Comprehension
The Exam duration for the SSC CGL 2019 is 60 minutes of Tier I.


Points to remember


  1. In SSC CGL 2019 Exam, Tier I Exam will carry a negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong question attempted.
  2. The exam duration is 80 minutes ( 1 hour 20 minutes) for the visually handicapped candidates.


SSC CGL 2019 Tier IV

Tier IV of SSC CGL 2019 consists of a couple of skill tests. These are


1. Data Entry Speed Test (DEST): To test the speed of the candidate, this typing test is conducted by the SSC CGL. In this form of test, a candidate is given a paper with the material printed on the paper in English, the exam duration is 15 minutes for this typing test in the SSC CGL 2019.

2. Computer Proficiency Test (CPT): In this computer test, there will be 3 modules in the CPT of SSC CGL 2019. The three modules are


  1. Word Processing
  2. Spread Sheet
  3. Generation of Slides.
This test will only be held for the selected posts which are
  1. Assistant Section Officer in CSS, MEA, and AFHQ,
  2. Assistant in Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO)
  3. Assistant in Ministry of Mines
  4. Inspector


3. Document Verification: Document verification is the final step of the selection of the SSC CGL 2019.


Interview Details for SSC CGL 2019


In SSC CGL 2019, there is no interview for the recruitment. The candidate has to clear all the Tier of the SSC CGL Exam 2019. On the basis of the marks scored in all the Tier, the merit list is generated. A candidate who has successfully cleared all the phases of the exam will be appointed for the post in their respective departments.
