Update KYC for EPF UAN Online

It is mandatory to update the KYC  for EPF. You can update your KYC online via the UAN EPFO ​​portal. To update or change your KYC (Know Your Customer) profile on the UAN EPFO ​​portal, you need a UAN (Universal Account Number) credential. You need to update your KYC information by logging in to the EPFO ​​UAN portal and entering the required information.


You can update the following information under the KYC section on the UAN portal.


  • Bank account number
  • PAN
  • Passport
  • Driving license
  • Election card.
  • Ration card
  • National Population Registration


Note - It is not mandatory to update all information. The Bank Account number, PAN, and Aadhaar are mandatory to update on the UAN portal.

You should update these details if you haven't updated the details on the EPFO ​​portal yet,  The KYC update in the EPF offers the following benefits.


  1. If your KYC of EPF UAN is completed, you will not face any delays during the EPF money transfer or withdrawal.
  2. Online EPF withdrawal is not allowed if the KYC information is not updated with the UAN.
  3. Your claim may get rejected If the bank account details have not been updated.
  4. The EPF member will not receive any SMS alert without updating the information.
  5. If the PAN card details are not updated then the return will be charged at a higher rate than TDS.


Updating KYC on the UAN portal is pretty easy. To update the details, follow these steps given below.

#STEP 1

Login to the EPFO UAN portal – Log in here using your UAN credential. In the Manage tab, you will find the menu ‘KYC’ and Contact detail. Like in the picture below -

#STEP 2

Select the KYC document, which you want to update in the EPFO UAN

Once you select, the system will allow you to enter the document number and name as per the Document. If you are updating the bank account you also need to provide the IFSC code of the bank. For Driving license and Passport, entering expiry date is compulsory of passport and DL. You will be able to update your Bank Account Number, PAN, Aadhaar, Passport, Driving License number, etc. PAN, Bank Details, and Aadhaar are mandatory for KYC.

#STEP 4 

Once you complete, press the save button. You will be able to see the message "KYC Data Update completed successfully".If there is no error you will see “KYC Pending for Approval” with the details of modification in the “Pending KYC Section”. The status of KYC will be shown as pending until the details get approved by the employer.
In case the UAN KYC details are not entered correctly you can press the button “Delete” in the column. This will delete submitted KYC information and reenter the details.

#Step 5

Once the employer approves, the status of the change will be changed as “Approved by the employer”. You will also receive an SMS for the changes made by you. In front of the document, you will see "verified" in front of the document.

Apart from the KYC, you can also modify your contact details on the portal. In order to do so, please go to “Manage>>Contact Details” from the menu. You will be able to change your registered mobile number and e-mail address.

For the verification, OTP will be sent on the registered mobile number. The details will not get changed immediately.
The facility provided by EPFO to update KYC on the UAN portal will bring in multiple benefits to the EPFO subscribers.
